Week 4: Kirtan Kriya

The last week of spring carries something particular in it — a fullness just before the turn. This is the moment to meet it consciously.

This week we practice Kirtan Kriya, one of the oldest and most complete meditations in the Kundalini tradition. Four syllables. Four finger movements. A practice that has been used for thousands of years to clear the mind, open awareness, and return you to something larger than your current thinking.

SA — infinity. TA — life. NA — death. MA — rebirth.

You are not just chanting sounds. You are tracing the full cycle of existence with your voice and your hands. Each syllable lands in the body through the fingertips, each one a small point of contact between you and something much bigger.

The practice moves through three layers — aloud, whispered, silent — following sound from the room into the body, and from the body into stillness. Most of us spend our lives contracting around what we know. This meditation asks something different: to expand into the full range of what you are.

You don't need prior experience. You need twelve minutes and a willingness to try something your mind doesn't already have a category for.

That's where expansion actually begins.
